If you live in or are familiar with Sunset Park, you may be interested to know that the strange triangulation of roads at the west end of Southern Boulevard was a point of contention 50 years ago. Property owners on Sunset Park sued the City of Wilmington and S&G Concrete Co., asking that Monroe Street near Virginia Avenue and Southern Boulevard be reopened. By the way, Sunset Park has a Web site, www.sunsetparknc.org, full of history and old photographs as well as information for current residents and newcomers. The Web site editor uses an article from the Sept. 22, 1912, Wilmington Star to tell about the early history.May 22, 2008
