Jackson - 2049 (Block 23/Lot 26)Annie Gore House - 1943
Two-story, frame with simulated siding; hipped roof; three bays wide and three bays deep; one-story, hip roofed porch across center and right front bays supported by paired and tripled posts on brick piers and enclosed by simple balustrades; windows, containing six-over-six sash are paired in right front bay and at southeast corner of house; hip-roofed dormer contains one-over-one sash window flanked by panels; exterior end chimney with smooth shoulders rises along south elevation. Property purchased by Annie Gore, widow.

Monroe - 2140 (Block 24/Lot 23A)Ernest Jones House - 1941
One-story; Cape Cod style; frame with simulated siding; gable-end roof; four bays wide and two bays deep; first and third bays contain modern one-over-one sash windows flanking entrance sheltered by gabled roof supported by triangular brackets; exterior chimney with single stepped shoulder rises to right of entrance; right bay forms sun porch with paired, one-over-one sash windows. Property purchased 9/30/1941 by Ernest P. and Ruth E. Jones for rental income; residence in 1942 of Lon M. Howe, investigator in charge, Alcoholic Tax Unit, Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Treasury Dept., and wife, Lela

One-and-a-half story; Colonial Revival style; frame with simulated siding; T-shaped plan with gabled roofs; three bays wide and four bays deep; left and center front bays form engaged porch supported by Tuscan style columns; paired frieze brackets surmounted by arched pediment with sunburst pattern accentuates center entrance bay; windows in left and right front bays have paired, six-over-six sash; twin, gabled dormers in front slope of roof above left and center bays. Property purchased 11/19/1938 by Joseph B. Taylor, Atlantic Coast Line Railroad clerk, and wife, Grace.

Craftsman style house built as rental property for the Victory Home Company that provided housing for Carolina and Liberty Shipyard Workers. Purchased in 1940 by Earle Edward Dye (1904-1992), Clerk for Atlantic Coast line Railroad; and Wife, Lucille Robinson (1901-1995). In 1960, sold to Renn Galloway Honeycutt (1926- ), Meteorologist; and Wife, Ann Manning (1927- ).

One-story; Tudor style; frame with simulated siding; gable-end roof; three bays wide and three bays deep; right front bay forms tall gable; central entrance bay features projecting pavilion with door containing lunette in upper panel, small arched window, and asymmetrical gable; broad, exterior chimney with front-sloping shoulders flanks entrance on left; first and third bays contain paired, six-over-six sash windows and louvered blinds; a raised patio extends across left and center bays. Property purchased 1/25/1939 by Fritz D. Stelljes, Atlantic Coast Line Railroad clerk, and wife, Margaret.
